In 2008, inspired by my own cancer journey, I founded the F Cancer Embrace Life initiative to raise funds and awareness for cancer causes. To date, more than $300,000 has been raised for patient services such as Inspire Health and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
I believe big battles need big words; living with cancer demands courage, self-awareness, and that secret source of power - a sense of humor. I want to encourage people with cancer to embrace the fullness of life - from the time of diagnosis to recovery and beyond. I aim to foster a community of people sharing their stories and support in their embrace of life, no matter the circumstances.
Early in my career, I founded Soul Flower, which grew to become one of Canada's leading design houses of sterling silver jewelry. After selling Soul Flower in 2010, I fulfilled a life-long dream: traveling the world by sailboat while focusing entirely on social ventures.
My passion for creating for worthy causes led to collaborations with the Royal Bank of Canada, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, and others, creating jewelry for charity campaigns. As Spokesperson and Organizing Committee Member for the inaugural Vancouver Leukemia Cup Regatta, I surpassed my personal fundraising goal and that of the Regatta.
Having sailed more than 40,000 nautical miles between 17 countries, I joined the Canadian Coast Guard in 2020 to broaden my commercial maritime experience and voyage to the Northwest Passage aboard the Icebreaker CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier, known for discovering the lost Franklin Expedition.
When not on the water, I can be found at Silver Star, Canada's third-largest ski resort, skiing the slopes and trails right outside my door.
